Genital Warts In
Men
In men, HPV infections generally cause warts in the genital area to include around
the groin and on the shaft and head of the penis. These warts can be smooth and soft or ruff and hard. In many
cases, genital warts may not be recognized initially because they are too small to notice, hiding beneath the mat
of pubic hair, or they are confused with ingrown hairs.
Additionally, it is common for men to develop genital warts around and inside the
anus and urethra … causing major problems in defecating and urinating, respectively. These genital warts are a lot
more difficult to detect because they are “hidden” and they are even harder to treat. It is only when sever
itching and problems urinating make men aware of this condition.
Lastly, men who have oral sex with someone who is infected with HPV can get
genital warts on the mouth or in the throat, which is a severely debilitating condition that calls for immediate
medical intervention.
